On 8th & 9th June we launched the Community Produce Garden at St Francis Fields, and it was great to welcome some enthusiastic villagers to show them the progress. We were especially pleased to see the wide range of ages that came along, including young families. It’s encouraging to know that some teenagers are already sprouting green fingers!
All our visitors seemed impressed at how the garden is developing and by the range of produce already thriving - potatoes, beetroot, squashes, courgettes, french, broad and runner beans, strawberries, raspberries and more recently planted, artichokes.
A selection of our fresh organically grown vegetables was available at the Yard of Ale pop-up pub for Northiam residents to take home and enjoy!
We are delighted that some of residents that visited have joined our team of volunteers. However, we still need more people of Northiam to join our merry band please.
If you feel you could spare a little time please do drop by; we are at the garden, accessed by the kissing gate from Main Street, every Tuesday between 09:45 to 12:00. Do pop in, you'll be made very welcome.
The Yard of Ale continues to trade across some weekends and we have extended our range of guest beers from local producers.
Our next opening days are:-
Friday 19th July from 4pm to 9pm
Saturday 20th July from 2pm to 9pm
Sunday 21st July from 2pm to 8pm
And another date for your diary - Northiam Parish Council are planning to invite residents to St Francis Fields on Saturday 24th August. The event will include ‘bring a picnic' and the Yard of Ale pop-up-pub will be open for trade. Put the date on the calendar, and more details will come out soon.
The St Francis Fields ‘surgeries’ continue for anyone who wants to find out more about St Francis Fields and our plans. These will run from 10.30 - 11.30 on the first Tuesday of each month through the summer, usually in the Oast in the Hub at the centre of the estate.
